September 21, 2021

NORTH VALLEY MILITARY INSTITUTE - Joel Vazquez, the coach of the high school NVMI girls' golf team, oversaw a match on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, against Kennedy High School at Van Nuys Golf Course. While the golf team did not win the match, Vazquez expressed pride in how his team played.

The NVMI team has five players who are brand new to the game of golf. This is their very first match of the season. Meanwhile, Kennedy had two very experienced players on their team. Nonetheless, the coach was very proud of how the team played.

"I am very proud of the girls' golf team and how they played during this time of COVID," said Vazquez. "It was a successful match. They played nine holes. I am very proud of them."

Social distancing was observed during the match and masks are regularly worn during practice and matches. Vazquez is looking forward to seeing improvement in the team and taking part in future matches. Several have requested to take part in future NVMI golf teams.

There will be a boys' golf team season in the spring.
