[SUN VALLEY, CA, February 7, 2021] —
Four recent cadet graduates from the North Valley Military Institute (NVMI) successfully completed Basic Camp for the US Army’s Early Commissioning Program at New Mexico Military Institute, and have returned for their Spring Semester of classes there. In 15 short months (May of 2022), these young men who just completed their high school education aspire to earn Commissions as Second Lieutenants in the United States Army, after which they will finish Bachelors Degrees and begin their careers as army officers.
Cadets Keven Cardenas, Christopher Garcia, Ricky Hernandez, and Benjamin Lopez are working hard to earn coveted Commissions as Army officers. They will work toward Associates Degrees at New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) at the same time they participate in the College ROTC program. In May, 2022 when they are Commissioned as Army Second Lieutenants, they will transfer to complete Bachelors Degrees at top tier universities nationwide, after which they will earn promotions to First Lieutenant.
NVMI Superintendent Dr. Mark Ryan beams with pride as these young men continue this next phase of their education. “I could not be prouder than I am today, knowing that these four gentlemen are undertaking a commitment to serve our country as Army officers, earning college degrees, and continuing a life of service. NVMI’s singular purpose is to help cadets prepare for and succeed in college. Our cadets who choose to attend Service Academies like West Point or participate in college ROTC programs epitomize the successful accomplishment of that noble mission.”
