Board of Trustees

The North Valley Military Institute Board of Trustees is a well rounded team of volunteers with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Board members are responsible for Governance of the school. They create and support the long term vision of the school, actively oversee the school’s core values and mission, ensure the school’s financial viability, and hire and review NVMI's Superintendent.

Current Board Members:

  • Chairman - Dr. Daniel Villanueva (Dr. Villanueva serves as the Vice President for Administration at Los Angeles Mission College. He also teaches as an adjunct faculty member at California State University Northridge, has served on various non-profit governing boards, and been involved in development and fund raising efforts for various non-profit organizations.  Dr. Villanueva worked in fiscal services at the Los Angeles County Office of Education for more than a decade. He brings a wealth of experience in fiscal, facilities, emergency response, human resources, fund raising, curriculum, and K-12/community college operations.) TERM EXPIRES 30 June 2021
  • Vice Chair - Kelly Enos (Mr. Enos is currently  a faculty member in the Administration of Justice department at Los Angeles Mission College, where he has served as a department chair and director. He was previously a law enforcement officer, and brings a wealth of experience in curriculum, instruction, assessment, technology, facilities, emergency response, and resource management.) - TERM EXPIRES 30 June 2021
  • Secretary - Lanny West (Mr. West is a retired businessman who has served on the north Valley Charter Academy and subsequently North Valley Military Institue board since its inception. He served as board Chairman for more than a decade, and brings a wealth of business, finance, human resource, and community relations experience.) TERM EXPIRES 30 June 2021
  • Member - Air Force Reserve Brigadier General Leslie Beavers (General Beavers is a proud graduate of the United States Air Force Academy who is currently serving as the mobilization assistant to the vice commander, 16th Air Force, Air Combat Command, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. General Beavers owns a consulting firm specializing in helping non-profits and for-profits with goal setting, strategic planning, and organizational development.) - TERM EXPIRES 30 June 2020
  • Member - Major General US Army Retired John Harrel (General Harrel is the former commander of the California Army National Guard. General Harrel's active military service began in 1975 after being commissioned a second lieutenant through the United States Marines Platoon Leaders Course. Since his commissioning he has held many positions of great responsibility to include Commander, 40th Infantry Division and as the Commanding General for Task Force Falcon/Multi-National Brigade (East), Kosovo and Army Forces (ARFOR) Kosovo, Macedonia and Albania. - TERM EXPIRES 30 June 2021
  • Member - Captain (Retired) John Pruit (John W. Pruitt, III was born in Atlanta, Georgia,  and is a proud graduate of U. S. Coast Guard Academy as an Electrical Engineer. During his career in the Coast Guard, John deployed for over 12 years around the world working with every branch of the U. S. military and numerous nations. During this time John commanded three Coast Guard ships and was Officer in Charge of a law enforcement detachment. John's operations carried him from the Bering Sea of Alaska, throughout Central and South America, the Persian Gulf, and untold places in between. John retired from the U. S. Coast Guard after 23 years of service, as a Captain (O-6) in 2018 and is an entertainment consultant and TV personality.) TERM EXPIRES 30 June 2020
  • Member - Master Sergeant, USMC (Retired) John Martinez, (Master Sergeant Martinez is a member of the Crisis Response Team with the United States Secret Service in Washington, DC. He retired from the Marine Corps after  distinguished career that included multiple deployments including a stint assigned to the Mobile Training Team Chief, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific where he trained Marines from the Maldives in military tactics. He held multiple senior leadership roles, including the role where he got to know NVMI as the Operations Chief of the School of Infantry West at Camp Pendleton, CA. His areas of expertise include logistics, training, operations, security, community relations, and operational planning).  - TERM EXPIRES 30 June 2020
  • Member Ahmed Saededdin (Mr. Saededdin is an NVMI parent of a current senior and a personal security consultant for various high profile individuals in the entertainment and business worlds and is the chief of talent protection at Apple. He is a member of the United States Army Reserve where he serves as a Military Police Officer/ Anti-terrorism Officer/ Physical Security NCO. He brings a wealth of experience in military affairs, emergency response, human resources, security management, and logistics to the NVMI board.) - TERM EXPIRES 30 June 2020
  • Member Mike Camorlinga (Mr. Camorlinga is also a proud NVMI parent or a middle schoolers and a business owner of Lulu's Restaurant in the San Fernando Valley. He was raised in Southern California, attended college here, and brings to the board a wealth of experience in finance, personnel management, strategic planning, investment, and business development.) - TERM EXPIRES 30 June 2020

 

NVMI Board members can be reached via email at NVMI_BOARD@novamil.org or by calling the main office at 818-368-1557 and leaving a message. NVMI's main office is open from 6:30 - 4:30 Monday - Friday.

NVMI's Board holds meetings in compliance with The Brown Act. Members of the NVMI and the greater community at large are invited to attend Board meetings where policies are set and decisions are made on behalf of the school. The Board agendas are posted in compliance with the Brown Act at least 72 hours in advance on the bulletin board outside the NVMI Main office (room 68 on the Sun Valley HS Campus) AND on this web page.

The Board meetings will be held in room 54 beginning at 4PM, generally on the final Monday of the month.
